The Mocean Scout XC is one of the newest kayaks to enter the popular thermoformed plastic category. A new entrant to the industry filling a gap in versality, performance, accessibility, and ergonomics that, until now, has been hard to fill.

The Scout XC differs from its nearly identical Scout in only one area: the cockpit. It is 48 inches long by 19 inches wide--spacious enough to make entry and exit effortless and roomy enough to accommodate a furry companion or child.

The Scout series accommodates a wide size range of paddlers and will impress beginners and experts alike. Both Scout models are perfect for anyone wanting a lightweight, durable, and compact vessel that tracks exceptionally well, provides significant secondary stability, has ample cockpit space, and a seat that can be enjoyed all day. 

With a multi-chined hull, this kayak will feel stable (if not graceful) both on and off edge. It has enough depth and flare in the bow and foredeck areas that it can withstand light swells and heavy chop with relative ease. The deck arches high ahead of the cockpit to clear spray and provide ample interior room.

A beautifully designed bulkhead hatch is located at the bow and stern. The access covers are large and the storage space is generous--big enough to handle a soft cooler, some camping gear; certainly a couple of days of supplies. The hatch systems are water tight and use thermoplastic partition walls with sealant to ensure complete separation from the cockpit chamber.

The molded handles are contoured for comfortable lifting. The deck rigging uses recessed and stainless hardware. The foot braces are bolted into stand-off wall sections—not through the hull-- to increase longevity and stiffness.

The seat is designed to cradle the paddler with extra cushion and hip support. It has a seat back that can be raised from a traditional sea or whitewater kayaking height (lower back) up to a middle back level. It can be angled backward or forward using a cinch-and-lock toggle.
