The Mocean Scout is designed for relaxed and fitness paddling pursuits alike with deck and hull contours that allow for nimble cruising and spacious access.

The Scout differs from the XC version in that it has a shorter cockpit opening that still allows for low-effort entry for almost any size paddler while providing thigh control of the kayak for edge turns and confidence in rough waters.

With a multi-chined hull, this kayak will feel stable (if not graceful) both on and off edge. It has enough depth and flare in the bow and foredeck areas that it can withstand light swells and heavy chop with relative ease. That means it won’t plow water or porpoise! The deck arches high ahead of the cockpit to clear spray and provide ample interior room.

A beautifully designed bulkhead hatch is located at the bow and another at the stern. The access covers are large with perimeter gaskets; their storage space is generous--big enough to handle a soft cooler, some camping gear; certainly a couple of days of supplies. The hatch systems are water tight (condensation remains a variable, like with any kayak). Each uses a thermoplastic partition wall with sealant to ensure complete separation from the cockpit chamber while adding hull rigidity (which translates to more speed!).

The molded handles are contoured for comfortable lifting. The deck rigging uses recessed and stainless hardware. The foot braces are bolted into stand-off wall sections--not through the hull-- to increase longevity and stiffness.

The seat is designed to cradle the paddler with extra cushion and hip support. It has a seat back that can be raised from a traditional sea or whitewater kayaking height (lower back) up to a middle back level. It can be angled backward or forward using a cinch-and-lock toggle.
